Robert Bell
Robert Bell is the Director of CYPI. He was previously at the UK government’s Children and Young People’s Unit in the DfES. Prior to this, he worked in the Cabinet Office, in the Women and Equality Unit. Between 1992 and 2001 he worked as a youth researcher at the universities of Edinburgh, Cambridge and London South Bank. He has written reports and articles in the areas of youth transitions, identity and policy. He also co-ordinates a consortium of organisations developing an online gateway to participation resources and information – ‘Participation Works’.

Raji Hunjan
Raji Hunjan has now moved from the Young People Initiative to work on the Trust’s new Democracy and Civil Society programme. In this role, she will remain the main contact for all enquiries relating to Parliament and democracy, education and schools, and is based at CYPI.

Abi Carter
Abi Carter is Co-ordinator of our Participation Workers’ Network for England. She previously worked at The Children’s Society as the Project Manager of Lewisham Children’s Fund Participation Project. Prior to this she worked with homeless young people and in France.

Tom Burke
Tom Burke is our Policy and Development Officer. He is responsible for the development of the Participation Works online gateway. He also leads on the development of CYPI’s policy work and the impact of children and young people’s participation.
Tom has a varied background in youth participation. Being a social activist from a young age, he has worked as a freelance consultant for various UK and international organisations. His interests are in rights based approaches to participation. He is a director of Voices for Change, a not for profit company working to support young activists.

Morven Masterton
Morven is Programme Coordinator at Carnegie’s London office, working on both the Children and Young People Programme and the Civil Society and Democracy Programme.
Morven has recently completed a postgraduate degree in European Politics and before joining Carnegie worked as a Project Assistant at a national disabilities charity and volunteered at the Green Party HQ. She has lived abroad for an extended period, working in Italy, Sweden and Spain.

Sarah Schulman
Sarah Schulman is twenty-one years old and a doctoral student at Oxford University. Her research focuses on the creation of coherent national youth policies. Sarah is passionate about youth policy and serves as Executive Director of Youth Infusion, a student-run non-profit organisations designed to help engage youth in governance structures.
Sarah will be working alongside Robert Bell on Carnegie Young People Initiative’s Final Report.
