Youth Chex is a grant-giving organisation for young people, by young people and is a licensed member of YouthBank UK. We have 5 youth panels consisting of 12-18 year olds across the Borders who collectively have ?70,000 to award to 12-25 year olds for any project that benefits both young people and the community, criteria that panel members voted upon themselves. Each panel is supported by a youth worker. So far projects that have been funded have included a DJ team providing free DJ nights for under 18s, a circus skills workshop, costumes for a dance group and a young football team to tour in Holland.

Junior Scotland
Junior Scotland is an internet based not-for-profit magazine specifically for young resident and visitors to Scotland.
Young people between the ages of 5 and 18 years are invited to become ‘Junior Scotland Reporters’ and submit reports/stories on a variety of subjects using the online interface.
Only identified by their online alias, the youngsters reports are read by an editorial team and on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, prizes are awarded for the best reports in 3 age groups. (prize winners will be required to reveal their identities to receive their prizes).

High Profile Internet Cafe/Youth Initiative/Training Provider based in Cumnock and serving all of the rural communities within 495 square radius. The Project has been operational for 4.5 years and has achieved national recognition through innovative, dynamic youth, community and social enterprise. Providing a range of formal and informal activities to young people aged 10 – 25 years, including I.C.T., recreation, outdoor sports for winter and summer, business skills and enterprise, free drop-in service opened six nights per week, detached street work and outreach provision. Northern Rock Festival Group
Northern Rock Festival Group is a community based music organisation.
The main aim of Northern Rock is to develop people’s social competences using music tuition and performing arts as a mechanism for personal development. This has proven to create employment opportunities, increased confidence and self-esteem as well as the development of musical skills of the people living in the north of Glasgow.
Our centre has a state of the art recording studio, a well-equipped rehearsal room, and an IT suite. These facilities are usually booked weeks in advance.
We do a lot of outreach work throughout the north and presently run thirty-seven music classes per week. These classes are in subjects such as Singing, Percussion, Guitar, Keyboard, Music Technology and DJ decks and take place in different centres with a whole range of client groups e.g. youths, adults, refugees and asylum seekers, recovering drug abusers etc. Presently a total of over 240 North Glasgow residents attend our courses weekly.
urban fox programme
we work within 9 communities in the east end linking young people together.we offer a range of programmes from football skills, friday drop in, healthy fox cubs, outward bound, schools educational programme, cyber fox and residentials. The ethos is to remove territorial barriers and develop youth involvemeny within local communities. We work in partnership to promote participation within communities and invest in local poeple to train as the workers within our programme.
The Ark Trust
To establish a pilot project led by young homeless people to investigate legislation and policies relating to drug use. To increase their knowledge base and make informed recommendations to influence decision making.
The Children's Parliament
To encourage and enable children to have opportunities to be active citizens through local groups and in one to one meetings with decision and policy makers.
One Step Beyond 2003
To provide training workshops and seminars to those involving children and young people in decision making in their organisations. To set up a young person’s e-network and policy network for young people. To increase participation of workers and young people in local and national policy.
Participation and Outreach Project
To maximise our ability to contact lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people, including those who are multiply excluded. To encourage and support community developments, ensuring that LGBT young people are included in these. To support LGBT young people to gain the skills and experiences to enable them to participate in democratic and civic life.
