To dispel the myths and misconceptions of imprisonment.
To raise awareness among young people of the ultimate consequences of crime.
To discourage young people from making a mistake that could ruin their lives.
To encourage young people to take responsibility for their own actions.
To promote a safe and law abiding life style.
Rhyl Youth Action Group
We are a membership based youth group. All our members are young people aged between 11 and 25.
We are supported by Princes Trust Cymru and Rhyl YIP to design, manage and run social & leisure, informal education, peer training and citizenship based projects to our peers. Via our projects we seek to improve the general health & wellbeing, confidence, citizenship, employability and position in society of young people living in multiple deprivation.
We direct our peers into an environment of peer mentors, positive role models and youth/community workers, whose aim in turn is to encourage participation in decision-making, informal education, and volunteering to build self esteem and positive role models which create’s a ?can do? culture in Rhyl.
We are a proactive group of young people from Rhyl providing facilities, training and services for our peers, we seek out gaps in provision and we take action ourselves and with our partners to fill them.
Questions with Attitude; Answers with Meaning
The project is a ‘Question Time’ type one-day (we hope annual) event aimed at the 16-19 age group, by invitation to schools and tertiary colleges (20 delegates per school etc…)across the whole of the Monmouth Diocese. It is anticipated that this will provide an audience/forum of at least 400 young people. The pilot event is scheduled for 11th October 2005 at St Woolos Cathedral in Newport with the rationale being that of the promotion of citizenship and the improvement of young peoples’ social and moral awareness. To this end, a carefully selected, diverse, invited panel will be on hand to provide good quality and meaningful responses to issues and topics raised by the audience. The event will be monitored, analised and evaluated against expected outcomes (both quantitative and qualitative).
