The first annual Participation Workers Network for England Conference took place on Tuesday 11th October at Regent's College Conference Centre in London. 250 delegates attended from all over England.
- The day began with the new PWNE DVD resource they help you get respect
- Next delegates heard from keynote speaker Professor Al Aynsley-Green, the Children's Commissioner for England. Al outlined the key themes for his term of office including leading the campaign against the 'anti-yob culture' and promoting the views and interests of Disabled Children and Young People.
- Delegates attended 2 workshops from a choice of 10, each focusing on new and innovative areas of Participation work going on around the country. Workshop summaries will be available on the website soon.
- To close the day Jane Haywood from the Children's Workforce Development Council and Tom Wylie from the National Youth Agency debated forthcoming issues for the Participation Workforce such as Youth Matters and Children's Trusts.
